    India's history and culture is dynamic, dates back to the beginning of human civilization. It begins with a mysterious culture along the Indus River which flourished around 2,500 BC in western parts of the country precisely known as HARAPPA CIVILIZATION. The Indus Valley was home to the largest of the four ancient urban civilizations of Egypt, Mesopotamia, India and China. The ruins of buildings and other things like household articles, weapons of war, gold and silver ornaments, seals, toys, pottery wares, etc., show that some four to five thousand years ago a highly developed Civilization flourished in this region.

    The history of India is punctuated by constant integration of migrating people with the diverse cultures that surround India.

     Around 2000BC India was invaded by ARYANS who spoke Sanskrit , intermingled with local people &give birth to a historic civilization called VEDIC CIVILIZATION. This period saw the birth of Hinduism .this period was marked by great philosophical epic creations which is present in form of VEDAS & MAHABHARATA ,RAMAYAN, etc, the list is in-exhaustive. This period was also marked by rise of BUDHA. This period also saw the invasion of ALEXENDER THE GREAT , but he was so overwhelmed by the knowledge & philosophy of this land tht he left without conquering.

     The return of Alexender was marked by the rise of  the Mauryan Empire (322 BC-185 BC) marked a new epoch in the history of India. It was a period when politics, art, trade and commerce elevated India to a glorious height. It was a period of unification of the territories which lay as fragmented kingdoms. Moreover, Indian contact with the outside world was established effectively during this period. The all famous king ASHOKA  ruled during this period.

     After the end of Maurya period India saw the rise of another gread Dynasity called GUPTA dynasty. The Gupta period has been described as the Golden Age of Indian history. It was most probably during his reign that Kalidas, the greatest Sanskrit poet and dramatist, as well as many other scientist like ARYABHATTA & BHASKARA and scholars flourished. The last of the greatest ruler ancient India was Harshavardhana who  is well known for his religious toleration, able administration and diplomatic relations. He maintained diplomatic relations with China and sent envoys, who exchanged ideas of the Chinese rulers and developed their knowledge about each other.

     The Chinese traveler, Hiuen Tsang, who visited India during his reign, has given a vivid description of the social, economic and religious conditions, under the rule of Harsha spoke highly of the king.

All  these  dynasties have left a  great legacy behind them. Well planned towns which can stun any  modern day architect, sparkling monuments & sculpture, dazzling art, amazing music & painting  which can envy any modern day compatriot & incomparable literature, philosophies & science. So it is a duty of every one to visit, understand, enjoy  these sites of mankind.
